Your salary never leaves your browser

The calculator is arithmetic that runs on your own device. When you type a CTC, pick a state or open the advanced fields, nothing is sent anywhere — there is no API call, no form submission and no server to receive it. SahiSalary is a set of static files. We could not collect your salary if we wanted to, because there is nothing on our side to collect it with.

Your figures are also not stored on your device. Reload the page and the calculator starts from the worked example again. Nothing persists in local storage, session storage or an IndexedDB.

No cookies

This site sets no cookies of any kind — not essential, not preference, not advertising. That is why you have not been asked to accept any. A consent banner here would be theatre.

We count page views, and that is the whole of it

Cloudflare Web Analytics runs on every page of this site. It is one script, served by Cloudflare from static.cloudflareinsights.com, and it sends one measurement back to sahisalary.in/cdn-cgi/rum. That measurement carries two things: that this URL was viewed, and how the page performed while you were on it — the Core Web Vitals, meaning how long the largest thing took to paint, how much the layout moved under you, and how quickly the page answered your first tap. We read the daily totals per URL. That is the entire dataset, and there is no other copy of it.

It sets no cookie and writes nothing to your device, which is why the section above is still true and why you have still not been asked to accept anything. There is no identifier that follows you from one page to the next, none that follows you to any other site, and nothing in it that can be traced back to a person. If a page shows 400 views, we do not know whether that was 400 people or 40.

What it reports is a URL, and a URL on this site never contains your salary. That is why the share button encodes your figures after the # — the part of an address that browsers never send to any server, by specification. A result you share reaches our analytics as /calculators/ctc-to-in-hand/ and nothing more. The figures themselves stay in the browser they were typed into, exactly as the top of this page says.

Beyond that beacon there is nothing. No Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Meta pixel, no heatmap or session recorder, no A/B testing tool and no advertising network. No fonts, stylesheets or images are loaded from anyone else’s domain either. Cloudflare’s script is the one file here that comes from a domain that is not ours, and Cloudflare already serves you every page on this site.

That stayed true when we added the email signup box, and it took deliberate work to keep it true. A mailing-list signup is normally an embedded frame or a vendor script, and either one would tell our email provider that you opened the page — whether or not you ever typed anything. Ours is an ordinary form on our own page. It contacts anyone else only at the moment you press Subscribe.

If you subscribe, we collect one thing

What. Your email address, and nothing else. We do not ask for your name, we do not attach the salary figures you typed into a calculator — those never leave your browser and there is nothing to attach them to — and we do not record which page you subscribed from. The form carries no tracking parameters of any kind.

Why. To email you when we publish a new guide. That is the only purpose, and we will not use the address for anything else without asking you first, on this page, before we do it. We do not sell, rent or share subscriber lists.

Who processes it. Our email provider is Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France), acting on our instructions as a data processor. Your address is stored on Brevo’s infrastructure in the European Union and is handled under their terms as well as ours. Pressing Subscribe sends your address to Brevo directly.

Consent, and taking it back. You are added to the list when you submit the form, so please use your own address. Every email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and using it removes you immediately — no reason, no reply, no retention of the address for a “win you back” campaign. You can also write to hello@sahisalary.in and ask us to unsubscribe you, to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to erase it — we will do it and confirm that we have.

How long. Until you unsubscribe. We keep no separate copy anywhere else — there is no database of ours for it to sit in.

What our host can see

The site is served by a static host (Cloudflare Pages). Like every web server, it processes the ordinary request information a browser sends — IP address, user agent, the URL requested, timestamp — in order to deliver the page and to keep the service up. We do not receive that data as a report, do not join it to anything, and do not use it to build a profile of you. It is handled under our host’s own privacy terms.

Cloudflare is therefore both our host and our counter, and it is worth being exact about which is which: the request log is what any web server keeps in order to answer you, and the beacon above is the only thing that produces a number we ever look at. Neither is joined to the other, and neither reaches us with a person attached.

If we add anything else, this page changes first

We got this wrong once, and saying so is the point of the section. The Cloudflare beacon described above was switched on before this page mentioned it, and for a stretch this page claimed the opposite in plain words — that we had no analytics at all. That is corrected as of the date at the top, and it is why the rule is written down here rather than assumed: measurement was added from a dashboard, so nothing in the code we ship could have caught it.

If we add a second measurement, this page names the tool, says exactly what it collects and says whether it can be refused — before it ships, not after. We will not quietly add a script and backdate a policy. The “last updated” date at the top of this page is the check on that, and it is the same discipline we apply to every dataset behind the calculators.

Children

This is a tax calculator. It is not directed at children, and the calculators themselves collect nothing from anyone of any age. The one thing we do collect — an email address, and only if you type one in — we ask you not to submit if you are under 18.

Contact

Write to hello@sahisalary.in — about this page, or about a number you think we have got wrong. Corrections are especially welcome; the methodology page lists every source behind every figure, so a claim you disagree with can be checked against the same document we read.
